Frequently Asked Questions
We know choosing a new educational path for your family comes with a lot of questions — and we love that! Curiosity is where all great learning begins.
Q1: What kind of families is Bloom for?
Bloom Academy is for families who value flexibility, curiosity, and real-world learning. Whether your days are fully child-led, follow a structured curriculum, or fall somewhere in between –Bloom gives you the freedom and support to design learning around your child and your lifestyle.
We’re here for the parents who believe learning should feel alive, joyful, and connected to life –not just a checklist to get through.
Q2: Do we have to follow a specific curriculum?
Not at all! Bloom families have complete freedom to choose how learning happens. Some families use formal curricula, others take a project- or play-based approach, and many blend both.
Our role is to support and celebrate the path that works best for your family – not prescribe one way of doing things.
Q3: Is Bloom Academy a “real” school?
Yes. Bloom Academy is a recognized private school that supports homeschooling families through a flexible, learner-centered model.
We provide the documentation and support families often need – such as report cards, diplomas, letters of enrollment, or letters of recommendation – while still allowing full freedom in how learning unfolds at home and in the world.
Q4: What documentation will we receive?
Families can choose what level of documentation they’d like to receive. Based on the learning logs you submit through your member portal, we can provide:
- Annual report cards (Optional)
- Diplomas from Bloom Academy
- Letters of Recommendation
- Letters of Enrollment
- Assistance with homeschool intent letters
- Transfer of records, if needed
Because homeschooling regulations differ by location, we’ll help guide you through what’s relevant for your area – so you only track what truly matters.
Q5: What if my province or state has different homeschooling requirements?
That’s where our flexibility shines. Each family’s situation is unique, and we’ll help you navigate your local requirements when you enroll.
Our team can guide you on what documentation or steps are typically required in your region – and help you stay compliant while keeping your learning experience relaxed and natural.

Q6: How do I track and document my child’s learning?
You’ll use your Bloom member portal – a simple online space where you can upload photos, videos, reflections, reading lists, or certificates from community activities to each child’s learning log.
There’s no one right way to document learning. We encourage families to focus on capturing meaningful moments rather than checking boxes. Your portal then allows us to create official documentation like report cards or diplomas when you need them.
Q7: How does Bloom support parents?
We know parents are the heart of this journey. That’s why Bloom offers:
- A growing parent resource library with workshops and guides on topics like deschooling, documenting learning, and rethinking “academics”
- A private members-only Facebook group where you’ll find mentorship, live Q&As, community discussions, and support from families walking this same road
- Encouragement and ideas to help you feel confident leading your child’s education your way
You don’t have to do this alone – Bloom is your partner in learning.
Q8: Can my child transition back to traditional school later on?
Absolutely.
Because Bloom provides report cards and other documentation upon request, families who choose to return to a traditional system can do so with ease. We’ll help with any required transfer of records or letters needed to support that transition.
Q9: What ages can enroll with Bloom?
Bloom Academy welcomes families with children ages 4+ who are learning at home – from early learners just beginning their journey to teens preparing for future goals.
Our documentation and support adapt as your child grows, offering flexibility through every stage of learning.
